During a meeting with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud in Tehran on Thursday, Pezeshkian stressed the need to strengthen unity and solidarity in the Islamic world.
Emphasizing that the unity of the Islamic countries is a necessary condition for achieving peace, security and sustainable economic development in the region, he said it is regrettable that nations with a common Qibla, book and religion, in a land full of blessings, are involved in conflict and poverty.
This situation is not befitting the Muslim Ummah, the Iranian president said.
Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of setting aside differences and strengthening regional cooperation, and said the leaders of Islamic countries can, with a shared determination, present an inspiring model of coexistence, prosperity, and progress for other societies.
He also called for the development of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia in all areas and the use of joint capacities to resolve regional issues.
“We consider you as our brothers, and from the beginning of the administration, we have been interested in strengthening the brotherly ties between the Islamic countries.”
