Karbala Int’l Quran Award: 2nd Round of Preliminary Stage Launched

IQNA – The Dar-ol-Quran of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine announced the start of the second round in the preliminary stage of the fourth Karbala International Quran Award.

Wassam Nadir al-Delfi, head of the Dar-ol-Quran Center’s media office, said the second round has begun with the specialized panel of judges’ presence at the center in Karbala. 

In this stage, 37 out of 156 participating reciters who were selected in the preliminary round were qualified, he said.

In total, 468 people from more than 50 Arab and non-Arab countries submitted their audio files for the recitation category of the competition.

He stressed that the contest has become an international platform to discover Quranic talents who will be good representatives for Iraq and the countries of the Islamic world in international Quranic circles.

He went on to say that the competition is held in line with the comprehensive Quranic project of the Astan in order to institutionalize the culture of the Quran in the society and support talented young people.

The judging panel of the competition consists of 6 Quran experts who evaluate the contenders’ observation of the rules of Sawt, Lahn, Quranic Maqamats and Tajweed according to strict judging criteria.

The final round of the 4th edition of Karbala International Quran Award is slated to be held in person in Karbala on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir (mid-June).
