IQNA – A Hamas official dismissed recent remarks by the Palestinian Authority president about the weapons of the Islamic resistance movement.

Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri

Sami Abu Zuhri said PA President Mahmoud Abbas has no legitimacy to talk about Hamas’ arms.

The decision about it is made by those who resist the Zionist regime, not by those who cooperate with it, he emphasized.

He referred to a letter sent recently to French President Emmanuel Macron by Mahmoud Abbas and said that it only expresses the opinion of the party that signed it (the Palestinian Authority).

Abu Zuhri underlined that any scheme that targets the resistance forces or seeks to bypass them will not succeed.

“We recommend that the French government focus on stopping the ongoing holocaust in the Gaza Strip and confronting the (Israeli) policy of systematic starvation instead of engaging in unacceptable projects,” he went on to say.

In his letter to Macron, Abbas has called for Hamas to hand over its weapons.

“Hamas will no longer rule Gaza and must hand over its weapons and military capabilities to the Palestinian Security Forces,” Abbas wrote about the future of Gaza.

He said he was “ready to invite Arab and international forces to be deployed as part of a stabilization/protection mission with a (UN) Security Council mandate”.

Abbas also called on Hamas to immediately release all captives even as the Israeli regime continues its genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip and rejects all peace efforts.
