Mohsen Pakayeen, a former senior Iranian diplomat, condemned the recent Israeli military actions against Iran as part of a broader pattern of aggression.
“The Zionist regime, already reviled by international public opinion for its ongoing crimes and genocide in Gaza, has committed yet another act of hostility by attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he told IQNA.
The regime initiated a war against Iran early on Friday by targeting residential and military areas, assassinating a number of senior Iranian military commanders and university professors, along with dozens of civilians.
The Israeli regime is attempting to deflect attention from its mounting internal and external crises through acts of external aggression, including airstrikes on residential areas and the assassination of Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. “This was an effort to export its troubles beyond the occupied territories,” he stated.

He further emphasized that such attacks are in clear violation of international law and humanitarian principles. “There is no doubt this invasion was carried out with a green light from the United States. [US President Donald] Trump, under the illusion that threats and pressure would force Iran to make concessions in indirect negotiations, has been a major enabler of Israel’s provocations,” Pakayeen said.
Referring to Iran’s retaliatory strike, known as Operation True Promise III, he noted that the operation had achieved its objectives. “The Israeli regime has banned reporters and cameramen from documenting the aftermath, but information from foreign sources and embassies confirms that Israel has been turned into ruins. As the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had previously warned, ‘If Israel attacks, we will level Tel Aviv and Haifa’—and that is precisely what has happened.”
The Israeli attempt to expand the conflict beyond its borders “will inevitably lead to severe punishment and repeated defeats” for the regime, he stressed.
