IQNA – Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs has invited Iranian experts and contestants to take part in the country’s first-ever International Quran Recitation Competition.

The invitation was extended by Sardar Muhammad Yousuf during a meeting in Islamabad with Iran’s Ambassador Reza Amiri-Moghaddam and Iran’s cultural attaché. The minister highlighted the deep religious and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran and pointed to the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly in the field of religious tourism.

Yousuf welcomed closer collaboration on Quran-related initiatives and confirmed that the inaugural International Quran Competition for the Pakistan Prize will be held this year.

He specifically invited the Islamic Republic of Iran to send high-level judges and reciters to the event.

Ambassador Amiri-Moghaddam expressed Iran’s readiness to support the competition and assist in its successful organization.

According to Pakistani media outlets, the competition will take place in Islamabad from November 24 to 29, 2025.

Young Quran reciters from 57 Islamic countries are expected to participate, offering a global platform to showcase their skills in Tajweed and recitation. Preparations are underway to host both international participants and distinguished guests.

The award ceremony is set to carry special weight, with prominent figures such as Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Imam of the Kaaba, and Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expected to attend.
