Following the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb posted a message on the social network X on Thursday, praising the steadfastness and responsibility of Palestinian groups in stopping the aggressions.
“Al-Azhar appreciates the positive response of the negotiating Palestinian groups and their insistence on reaching an immediate solution to stop the aggressions. We ask God that this initiative be a step towards regaining the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and establishing their independent state with al-Quds as its capital,” he said in the message.
Al-Tayeb expressed hope that the Palestinian people will enjoy a stable and dignified life and that peace will encompass all nations of the region and the world.
“Al-Azhar is very grateful to God for providing the means to end the killing of innocents and oppressed people in Gaza. With full gratitude and honor, we are grateful for all the efforts made to stop this aggression, and we highly value the sincere efforts of (Egyptian) President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, US President Donald Trump, and all the mediators and supporters of this initiative.”
