The Israeli regime fought with the most powerful weapons available with international support, but in the end it was defeated and, in fact, has begun to withdraw its forces, Hojat-ol-Islam Sayed Sadrudding Qabanchi said in his Friday prayer sermons yesterday.
“This tells us that the theory of resistance has won over the theory of submission,” he added, the Baghdad al-Yawm website reported.
“We have now entered the third year of the war against the people of Gaza; a war that has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 60,000 martyrs, most of whom are children and women, and some of whom are still under the rubble.
“The Zionist regime fought with international support and used the most powerful weapons available, but ultimately it was defeated and was forced to resort to a ceasefire plan.”
He noted that according to the agreement, Israel will release 20,000 Palestinian prisoners, Hamas will release 27 Israeli captives, and, in addition, Gaza will be reconstructed.
According to the cleric, this resolution includes provisions that “we hope will be implemented and in fact, Israel has begun to withdraw its forces, This tells us that the theory of resistance has triumphed over the theory of surrender. The final result is the defeat of the enemy and the victory of the oppressed people. Here, in the second stage, we demand the condemnation of Israel and the recognition of (Israeli prime minister Benjamin) Netanyahu as a war criminal.”

Elsewhere in his Friday prayer sermon, Hojat-ol-Islam Qabanchi referred to Iraq’s internal affairs, noting that the country’s elections are a hot topic in Iraq.
“What is our understanding of the elections? Our reading is that the elections will proceed in complete peace, by God’s will and under His supervision. This competition does not frighten us; it is an element of strength, not weakness. Therefore, we call on everyone to adhere to the legal provisions and we support our security forces in pursuing violations.”
He added, “Here, we urge the commission (organizing the elections) to reopen the update file, if possible, to address the numerous shortcomings so that these people are not deprived of the opportunity to vote.”
