Es’haq Abdollahi recited verses from the Holy Quran requested by the panel of judges.
The results of the competition will be announced by the panel on Friday at the closing ceremony, where top winners will be awarded.
The 23rd edition of the Russian international Quran contest began on October 15 in Moscow with the participation of reciters from various countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and more.
Known as the Moscow Quran reciting competition, it has been held annually since 2000. Since year 2007 the competition became international.
Last year, in the 22nd edition, Quran memorizer Mohammad Rasool Takbiri was present as a representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran but failed to win a rank.
In this year’s event, Iran has sent a representative in the category of Quran recitation only.
Es’haq Abdollahi, a distinguished qari from Qom province, will represent the Islamic Republic of Iran in the contest.
He is also a muezzin of the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) and Jamkaran Mosque.
He has been selected to participate in this global competition as Iran’s representative by the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Reciters.
Last year, he came fifth in the men’s section of the 47th National Quran Competition of Iran in Tabriz.
Abdollahi, who is a Quran teacher, has also won first place in the national Basij and Red Crescent competitions. Among other ranks of this young reciter, he, as a representative of the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA), won fourth place in the recitation category in the third round of the Karbala Prize International Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition.
