Najaf, Karbala Prepare for Rituals Marking Lady Fatima’s Martyrdom Anniv. +Photos

IQNA – Najaf and Karbala have entered a period of mourning as preparations intensify for events marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatima (SA), daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Each year, both cities host large gatherings during this period, and local authorities organize ceremonies to manage the influx of visitors and mourning processions.

According to Al-Kafeel, the courtyards of the Imam Ali (AS) Shrine in Najaf have been draped in black banners bearing Lady Fatima’s name. The shrine has completed full mourning preparations and is receiving groups of pilgrims who have begun their commemorations.

In Karbala, mourning processions from across Iraq have already arrived to take part in rituals at the city’s two major shrines.

A staff member from the Department of Rituals and Husseini Processions at the Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) said the department had been planning for weeks, putting together a schedule and designated movement routes to ensure that processions proceed in an orderly manner and without interrupting the flow of pilgrims.
