Iraq’s Kufa to Host Int’l Students Quran Contest

IQNA – The University of Kufa in Iraq plans to hold an international Quran competition for university students.

A delegation from the University of Kufa met with officials of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine to discuss preparations for holding an international Quran contest for university students.

 

It will be organized in cooperation with the Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine.

The international Quranic event will take place from April 27 to 29, 2026.

In this regard, a delegation from the University of Kufa met with the officials of the Dar-ol-Quran Center to coordinate efforts to hold the contest.

The delegation was headed by Razaq Abdul Amir Al-Tayyar and included members of the preparatory committees of the competition.

In this meeting, the process of holding the competition, the place of residence of the participants, the time of holding the competitions, and the process of the activities of the judging committees and the supervisory and procurement committees were reviewed.

Reviewing the prospects of holding the first international competition at the University of Kufa in two stages, the meeting emphasized that the first stage (preliminary) will be held with the participation of all Iraqi universities along with universities from Islamic and Arab countries, and the final stage will be held with the participation of 10 countries and 10 Iraqi universities.

After the evaluation stage, the competitions will be held inside the University of Kufa, and this event will end according to the specified schedule at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala.
