
The commemoration ceremony, slated for Sunday, February 6, 2026, will be attended by academic, cultural and diplomatic figures, and a special message from Al_Azhar chief Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb will also be read.
It is aimed at strengthening and developing Iran’s academic relations with the Al-Azhar University of Egypt.
Speakers at the ceremony include Mohamed Zia, head of the Egyptian Interests Protection Office in Tehran, IUID President Mohammad Hadi Fallahzadeh, member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Ahmad Molabghi, former Iranian cultural attaché in Egypt Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hassan Zamani, and Mahmoud Veysi, a faculty member of the IUID.

Ahmed Omar Hashim (1941–2025) was one of the most prominent contemporary Egyptian scholars and former president of Al-Azhar University, who played an important role in promoting moderate Islam and proximity of Islamic schools of thought.
