Eight Qaris Advance to Finals of ‘Wa Rattil’ Int’l Quran Contest

IQNA – Eight qaris from different countries advanced to the final round of the third edition of the “Wa Rattil” international Quran competition in the first eight days of Ramadan.

The finals will be broadcast on the Thaqalayn satellite network at the end of the holy month.

 According to Thaqalayn TV, the names and scores of this group of qaris are as follows:

1 - Abdullah Zuhair Al-Husseini - Iraq (98.75)

2 - Mehdi Mahdavi - Iran (89.5)

3 - Mohammad Zalif Atiyeh - Iraq (87)

4 - Ali Reza Hosseini - Afghanistan (86.5)

5 - Mohammad Zare Bekhair - Iran (86.5)

6 - Abdul Manan Ahmad Fawzi - Indonesia (86)

7 - Yusuf Muhammad Yunus - Lebanon (84.75)

8 - Ahmed Samir Abdul Aziz - Egypt (83.5)

Ahmed Najaf, the host and editor of the competition, who is an international reciter and media figure, pointed out that the competition mechanism is based on introducing only two reciters from one country, leaving this opportunity open to those with the highest scores from other countries, in order to ensure the participation of the largest possible number of qaris from different geographical locations.

It is worth noting that the jury for the first eight days consists of Munir Al-Aqla from Syria, Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Hakim from Egypt, Jafar Alawi from Iraq, and Abbas Anjam from Iran.

The “Wat Rattal” international competition is the first international television competition for reciting the Holy Quran in the Islamic world. The aim of this competition is to provide as much educational feedback as possible to young reciters and to provide Quranic sessions for those who do not have a teacher.

This competition also identifies Quranic talents and introduces them to the Islamic world.

This competition is broadcast every night at 21:30 (Tehran time) and is rebroadcast at 9:00 Mecca time on the Thaqalayn TV.
