IQNA – The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound remains under full Israeli lockdown for a 24th day on Tuesday, marking one of the most prolonged sustained closures of the sensitive holy site in recent memory.

The Israeli regime’s officials cite security concerns related to the American-Israeli war on Iran as the reason for the closure.

This arbitrary and unjustified measure represents a serious precedent, as Al-Aqsa Mosque has not been fully closed during the month of Ramadan since 1967, nor have worshippers been completely deprived of performing religious rituals in this manner.

In the past, occupation forces prevented citizens from performing Taraweeh prayers during last Ramadan in several neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem al-Quds, spreading around Bab al-Amud and Bab al-Sahira, and forcing worshippers to leave the area in an attempt to disperse them and prevent any prayer gatherings.

This occurs amid a heavy presence around Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, where occupation forces impose strict movement restrictions, close several gates, and prohibit gatherings.

The measures also affected the staff of the Islamic endowment, limiting the number of people allowed to enter, which impacts the daily management of the mosque’s affairs.
