Astan of Imam Hussein Shrine to Build Educational Center in Place of Iran’s Bombed School

IQNA – The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine announced plans for building an educational center in place of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, southern Iran.

The school was bombed and destroyed in a brutal American airstrike on February 28, killing 175 students, parents and teachers.

Following the instructions of Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbala, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Karbala, the Astan, in a ceremony attended by Sayyid Mohammad Hussein Bahr al-Uloom, the Deputy Secretary General of the Astan, launched the project to establish the comprehensive educational complex.

It will be built on 5,000 square meters, with 2,500 meters of infrastructure, according to the latest educational and architectural standards.

It will also be equipped with the best modern educational tools and will provide a safe and developed educational environment for students.

The management of the Astan emphasized that the old school will remain in its original form to be a living witness to this crime and to be remembered as a symbol of the innocence of the children  martyred in the attack and to remind future generations of the scale of this tragedy.

On February 28, 2026, on the first day of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, a US missile attack on the elementary school in the city of Minab destroyed the school.

According to the New York Times, a body of evidence compiled by the media outlet—including newly released satellite imagery, social media posts, and verified videos—shows that the school building was severely damaged by a precision strike.

The Reuters news agency also wrote that investigations indicate that the United States carried out the deadly attack on the school.
