Quran on Copper Plates on Display at Mecca Museum

IQNA – The Mecca Quran Museum has displayed a historic Quran from the 12th century AH written on copper plates.

This copy of the Holy Quran written on copper plates is on display at a museum in Mecca.

 

According to Al-Watan, the Holy Quran Museum in the Hira Cultural Area in Mecca continues to offer a rich cultural and educational experience and has opened paths for visitors to explore the history of the Holy Quran and its related sciences.

Visitors to the museum can see rare manuscripts and works from different periods, works that reflect the attention that Muslims have paid to the Book of God since the advent of Islam until today.

Among the unique works exhibited at the museum is a Quran written on copper plates by Qazi Ismatullah Khan.

This work dates back to the 12th century AH (18th century AD) and is an example of the precision and mastery of Islamic arts and special attention to beauty and scientific accuracy in writing the Quran.

This rare Quran is part of the collection of the King Faisal Center for Islamic Research and Studies, which is dedicated to preserving and making Islamic heritage accessible to scholars and enthusiasts, and documents Islamic cultural heritage.

This work of art represents the continuation of established traditions in Islamic calligraphy and decoration, which focused on perfecting the writing of the Holy Quran in its most beautiful form, using a variety of materials and techniques, from parchment and paper to metals; an issue that reflects the deep connection Muslims have with the Book of God and their commitment to immortalizing it in artistic forms based on creativity and respect.

The Holy Quran Museum in Mecca is considered one of the most prominent Quran museums in the world, displaying rare works, historical manuscripts and the world’s largest Quran (2.30 meters by 3.28 meters) in a modern and interactive style.

The museum received a Guinness World Record certificate for displaying the world’s largest Quran, which documents the history of its collection since the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
