Written Exams for Egypt Int’l Quran Contest Slated for June

IQNA – The Egyptian ministry of Awqaf announced the official dates for the written exams for those willing to represent Egypt in the country’s 33rd international Quran competition.

The exams will be held from June 8 to 18, 2026, it said, el-Balad News reported.

The ministry issued an urgent circular ordering all its departments to inform all those whose names appear on the announced lists to report to the Al-Nour Mosque in the Abbasiyya area to participate in the central written exams for this year’s competition.

The ministry has set strict criteria and regulations for applicants. Participants in this competition must not be more than 25 years old. Applicants must also not have previously achieved any of the top rankings in any of the previous rounds of this international competition.

Participants in the sixth category, namely the Quranic Family, must also have memorized the entire Quran based on the recitation of Hafs from Asim, Warsh from Nafi, or both. They must also have a strong understanding of the meanings of the verses and a deep knowledge of the goals and concepts of the Quran.

This category requires that the number of family members who are Quran memorizers is at least three and that the family has not previously achieved any of the top ranks.

The ministry emphasized that all sections of the competition are open to both men and women, provided that the participant has not previously won the top prize in any section of the competition.

The ministry said it would disqualify any participant who is not deemed eligible at any stage of the competition.
