The police said Monday that no such incident has taken place on ground, and the claims being circulated are completely baseless and unverified.

The circulation and amplification of such false narratives, rumors, and unverified content can create unnecessary panic, disturb public order, and adversely affect communal harmony, a police statement said.

All media organizations, social media users, and members of the general public are advised to act responsibly and refrain from sharing or forwarding any unverified information/content on electronic or social media platforms, it added.

It is further reiterated that strict legal action shall be initiated against any individual or entity found involved in spreading misinformation, fake news, or rumors under relevant provisions of law, it stated.
