
The National Center for Quranic Sciences, affiliated with the Iraqi Shia Awqaf Department has organized the course.
It teaches Quran recitation and offers Islamic jurisprudence, ethics and belief lessons.
Boys and girls aged 6 to 15 are taking the course, held in the center's Thaqalain Hall.
The opening program began with the recitation of verses from the Quran by Qari Ali Abdul Sattar Al-Khafaji, after which Sheikh Iyad al-Kaabi, head of the center's Quranic activities department, explained the importance of teaching children to recite and memorize the Quran at an early age to increase language development, improve correct pronunciation skills, instill good values and morals, strengthen memory and build children’s character.
He explained that this course is part of a series of Quranic courses held by the National Center for Quranic Sciences as part of its annual program.
The goal of this program is to expand and institutionalize the Quranic culture among all segments of society, especially elementary and middle school students, he noted.

Sheikh al-Kaabi said the course is be held twice a week under the supervision of the Quranic Activities Department and will continue for two months.
