Shia Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Ghadir on Thursday. It also marks the 37th anniversary of the demise of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.
In a message, ICRO said this is an opportunity to re-examine the deep connection between Wilayat and the social life of the Ummah and to reflect again on the relationship between the truth of Ghadir and the movement of Imam Khomeini (RA).
Ghadir is the declaration of the continuity of divine guidance in the context of society and the emphasis on the necessity of a leadership that is based on truth, justice, and dignity; a truth that has been the guiding light of the Islamic Ummah throughout history in the face of oppression, distortion, and identity ruptures, the message said.
It added that Imam Khomeini (RA) was also able to return religion from the margins to the context of social life by relying on the people and calling for the independence and dignity of the nation in the era of new domination.
“From this perspective, Ghadir is not merely a historical event; rather, it is a ‘permanent charter’ for responsibility, justice, and solidarity of the Ummah, and the path of the Imam (RA) is considered a practical continuation of this charter in the contemporary era.”
ICRO went on to say that the common message of these two occasions is a call for “unity around the axis of Wilayat”, “renewal of the covenant with divine and popular ideals,” and “strengthening the solidarity of the Islamic Ummah” against the divisiveness of the sworn enemies of the Islamic world, headed by the criminal America and the illegitimate Zionist regime.
