The management of Al Yaseen Husseiniyeh (Shia religious center) in Kuwait announced the suspension of mourning ceremonies in the center until further notice.

According to Kuwaiti activists, this decision was made following the move by official institutions to close this historic Husseiniyeh, Naba reported.

It has once again raised the issue of restrictions imposed on Shia religious rituals in some Persian Gulf countries.

Al Yaseen Husseiniyeh is one of the oldest Shia religious centers in Kuwait that was founded in 1909.

According to a published announcement, the management of this Husseiniyeh announced the suspension of mourning programs, but did not provide an explanation for the reasons for this decision.

However, some activists and social media users in Kuwait said this move was taken following restrictions imposed by the responsible institutions that prevented the continuation of Ashura ceremonies in this Husseiniyeh.

The Husseiniyeh is considered a well-known religious center for Kuwaiti Shias and has hosted mourning ceremonies, cultural programs, and various religious events for more than a century.
