IQNA – On Monday, the body of martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayed Ali Hosseini Khamenei and the bodies of his family members arrived in the city of Qom and the funeral procession is underway today with the participation of millions of people.

Jamkaran Mosque and the Beginning of a New World Order

Following the funeral procession in Tehran, Qom is the second city to host the funeral ceremonies. Qom is a city with a history spanning several thousand years, and throughout its history it has been home to many scholars and intellectuals.

Some of the companions and students of the Prophet Muhammad's Progeny (pbut) are buried there. The city's largest shrine is dedicated to a woman: Lady Fatimah Masumah, the daughter of the Seventh Imam and the sister of the Eighth Imam of the Shia Muslims. Around one hundred years ago, the Seminary of Qom was established beside the Shrine of Lady Masumah.

Another of Qom's important pilgrimage sites is Jamkaran Mosque. Jamkaran is a small village located to the south of the city of Qom. More than one thousand years ago, during the early period of the Occultation of the last Imam of the Shia Muslims, Jamkaran Mosque was established. Imam Mahdi (aj), during his Occultation, lives anonymously among the people. However, under certain circumstances, he meets with some of his sincere believers and true supporters.

According to historical reports, in addition to issuing the command to establish the mosque, there have been several other occasions on which faithful believers have met Imam Mahdi (aj) in this very mosque. This has further enhanced the mosque's sanctity and significance among Shia Muslims. Shia Muslims believe that when the necessary conditions are fulfilled, the Twelfth Imam will return to public life and carry out his divinely appointed mission.

These days, people across Iran are attending the funeral procession of Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei carrying red flags bearing the slogan of vengeance. Previously, these same red flags were also raised to demand justice for the martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani. The red flag of vengeance is one of the enduring symbols that has long flown above the dome of the shrine of the Third Imam, Imam Hussain (pbuh), who was martyred alongside members of his family in a tragic event.

Now, the funeral prayer for Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei and his family held at Jamkaran Mosque, and that the funeral procession begin from this sacred site. It is a beginning in which powerful symbols converge: the future reappearance of the Twelfth Imam, the call to avenge the injustices of the past, and the magnificent funeral procession of the martyred leader. It appears to mark the prelude to a turning point in history.
