Recording of First Tarteel Recitation A Milestone in Service of Quran

IQNA – The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf commemorated the anniversary of the completion of the first recording of Tarteel recitation of the Quran on July 23, 1961.

This project was a milestone in the service of the Quran and its dissemination throughout the world, the ministry said in a statement.

This project was implemented at that time under the supervision of the Ministry of Awqaf and through the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Egypt, and helped open new horizons for the teaching and dissemination of the Book of God with the cooperation of a group of prominent recitation scholars, it said.

The ministry emphasized that this project was the fruit of the efforts of Sheikh Mahmoud Shaltout, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar at the time, and Labib Al-Said, who came up with the idea of ​​​​collecting the audio of the Quran.

Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husari was selected to record this recitation of the Quran based on the narration of Hafs from Asim, under the supervision of a specialized scientific committee, the statement said.

“This work has become the main audio reference for Quran recitation and helps preserve the correct recitation of the Quran and counter attempts at distortion. In addition, it represents Egypt's pioneering role in serving the Quran before the release of subsequent recordings of prominent Egyptian reciters around the world.”

The ministry concluded by emphasizing the continuation of its mission to serve the Quran through a number of initiatives and projects, especially the “State of Recitation” television competition, the development of centers for recitation training, and the holding of Quran competitions aimed at strengthening the country's Quranic status.

It is worth noting that Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husari is a famous and great Egyptian reciter who has several distinctive and outstanding characteristics that distinguish him from other famous qaris.

He was the first qari to recite the Quran in Tarteel and record it on cassette tape, and he was also the only reciter whose delightful recitation resonated in the White House.

Al-Husari recited the word of God with a special humility and beauty, instilling it in the hearts.
