Iranian Pilgrims Travel to Syria after nearly Two Years
It is the first batch of Iranian pilgrims visiting Syria after some two years, according to Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
A ceremony was held at the airport in which the officials of the organization and Leader’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Office saw off the pilgrims.
In a speech at the ceremony, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Hossein Roknoddini, the office’s cultural deputy, urged the pilgrims to make the most of the spiritual trip.
He referred to the martyrdom anniversary of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and said such trips are possible thanks to his braveries and that of his companions and other martyrs.
Also speaking was Hojat-ol-Islam Sohbatollah Rahmani, the organization’s Atabat deputy, who said pilgrims will be sent to Syria in 25-strong groups and stay in the Arab country for three or four nights.
The holy shrine of Hazrat Zeynab (SA) in Damascus is the most important religious site for Shia pilgrims who visit Syria.
Religious trips to the Arab country were mostly suspended due to security concerns and in recent years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
