Quran Contest in Croaitia Ends Today

The Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani Quran Memorisation and Recitation Competition for non-Arabic speakers will conclude today at Rijeka Islamic Centre, Croatia.


About 100 men and women from Balkan countries, including Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Macedonia are contesting in the competition’s three stages. Some 75 percent of the contesters completed the tests before the arbitration panel successfully. The panel was to end examining the remainder of contesters last evening.



Awards, ranging between 3,000 to 1,200 dollars, will be given to winners of the first 10 positions. All other participants will be given not less than 200 dollars each.



For the first time, the contest is being held outside Qatar, at the center, which is the largest and one of the most beautiful Islamic centres in Europe. Preparations were made in cooperation with Islamic Society of Croatia.
