US, Saudi Arabia Attack PMU Headquarters
The PMU said in a statement that “a number of official headquarters in various parts of Iraq were subjected, at dawn today, to "treacherous terrorist attacks" launched by USand Saudi forces.
According to initial information, the attacks resulted in several martyrs and wounded, in addition to material damage to several buildings and properties belonging to the PMU.”
The statement added that “we consider this targeting a highly dangerous escalation, a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, and an attack on its official security institutions. The relevant authorities are monitoring the situation on the ground, while efforts to assess casualties and evaluate the damage are still ongoing.”
It concluded that “the public will be informed of the latest developments and official details once the information is complete, through statements issued by the Popular Mobilization Units.”
The US and Saudi Arabia claimed the attacks as "retaliation" to drone attacks launched from iside of iraq against saudi oil refinerires, the claim which previosley rejected by iraqi officials.
