The second edition of the Hudan Lilmutaqqin national Quran competition will be held in Iraq in the holy month of Ramadan.

The contest is jointly organized by the Dar-ol-Quran center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala and the Karbala satellite TV network.
It is held for Iraqi Quran reciters and muezzins (Adhan reciters), according to Sayyid Jafar al-Mousawi, director of the Hudan Lilmutaqqin program on Karbala TV.
He said the preliminary stage of the competition has already been held in several cities including Kut, Samawah, Nasiriyah and Amarah.
“We are now in Basra to select the top Qaris and muezzins of the city for competing in the national contest,” he said.
He noted that the top winner of the competition in Ramadan will be selected as the muezzin of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) and also receive a cash prize of 5 million Iraqi dinars.
The second and third prize winners will be awarded 400,000 and 300,000 dinars, respectively, al-Mousawi added.
