Algerian Quran Interpreter Passes Away
According to the Algerian Al-Ghad website, Sheikh Kaabash was known as a prominent figure in Quranic sciences and studies and one of the important scientific figures in the city of Al-Atef in the Ghardaia province of Algeria.
He dedicated his life to serving the Book of God, as well as education and social reform, and left behind a scientific and intellectual legacy that testifies to the journey of a man who made knowledge his mission and the Quran his guiding light and way of life.
Among his most important works is his famous commentary ‘Nafahat al-Rahman fi Riad al-Quran’.
This work is considered a prominent scientific achievement in the field of Quranic interpretation and represents the culmination of decades of efforts to acquire knowledge, teach, propagate, and reform.
Following this loss, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent a message of condolences and sympathy to the deceased's family and Algerian society.
Paying tribute to the late Quranic scholar, he emphasized that Algeria has lost a hero of social reform who dedicated his life to preserving the values of tolerance and national unity.
Sheikh Said was the head of the Al-Nahda group from 2002 to 2006 and spent his life in the service of religion and the homeland, he said, adding that as a Quranic interpreter and preacher, he was considered a model in religious and social reform.

Born in 1929 in Kasr al-Atef in the Algerian Mezab Valley, Sheikh Said Kaabash was an example of resistance and perseverance, raised as an orphan in the harsh conditions of French colonial rule. He was able to memorize the entire Quran by the age of 10 and, having mastered religious sciences and the Arabic language, became a prominent orator and skilled interpreter of the Quran.
His life path was not limited to academic activities; he was also at the forefront of the Algerian liberation revolution and was a pioneer of social and reformist initiatives. He was known for his unwavering commitment to moral integrity and the promotion of virtue in society.
