The Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine has established the committee.
It comprises prominent Iraqi Quranic figures and masters including Ali al-Khafaji, Sayyid Hassanayn al-Halw, and Sheikh Muzar al-Sahaf, the website of the Astan reported.
According to Ali al-Khafaji, who heads the committee, it will assess the proficiency of Qaris willing to attend the Quran recitation sessions at the holy shrine and select the best ones.
He said the Qaris will be assessed on Quranic skills such as Tajweed, Swot, Lahn and Waqf and Ibtida.
Al-Khafaji went on to say that a total of 40 Quran reciters will be chosen this year.
Like previous years, Quranic programs, including Quran recitations, will be held every day during the holy month of Ramadan at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
