Brazil’s Association of Islamic Institutes has sent the new reverts to Hajj in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Prayers Leaders of Brazil.
Muhammad Hussein Al-Zouqi, head of the association, said it is for the second year that the plan for sending Brazil’s new Muslims to Hajj is held to help them get more acquainted with Islamic teachings.
Sheikh Khaled Taqiyeddin, president of the council, hoped that the plan will help to promote Islam in Brazil.
Brazil is the largest country in Latin America. Although there are no official statistics, the Muslim population in Brazil is estimated to be approximately 1 million people.
