35 Countries to Attend Int’l Quran Competition in Russia

Representatives of 35 countries will participate in the 15th edition of the international Quran recitation and memorization competition in Russia.

According to Sada el-balad website, the competition will be held on September 20 under the supervision of head of Russia’s Muftiat Council.

Sheikh Sa’d al-Ghamdi, Quran reciter from Saudi Arabia, will be the honorary guest in this edition of the competition.

Saffron region will host the international event, which is to be held in two stages.

The competition is sponsored by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government of Russia and UNESCO.

Mahdi Gholamnezhad, top Iranian Qari who won the fourth rank in Iran's national Quran competition last year, will represent the country in the contest.
