Quran Memorization Contest Concludes in Mauritania

A Quran memorization contest organized by Egyptian Cultural Center in Nouakchott, concluded in the capital city of Mauritania.


According to Misr al-Yawm website, 40 Mauritanian citizens participated at the contest held in cooperation with Mauritania’s Quranic media channel.

Memorization of the entire Quran and 15 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran were the two categories of the contest.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the contest, Ali Al-Sheikh Walad Bilmilah, director of the Quranic media channel said that Egypt has been the pioneer in dissemination of Arab and Islamic culture.

He appreciated the cooperation of the Egyptian cultural center with cultural and religious centers in Mauritania.

Members of the judging board of the contest and the top Quran memorizers of the country were awarded by the director of the channel and Khalid Qareeb, director of the Egyptian cultural center.

A letter of cooperation was signed by the center and the Quranic channel according to which winners of Quran contests in Mauritania qualify to participate at the international Quran competitions in Egypt.

The youngest Quran memorizer of Mauritania was also awarded in the ceremony.
