Speaking at a meeting with the officials and organizers of the Ammar Popular Film Festival, Imam Khamenei stressed that there should be long-term planning for Islamic arts and religious cinema along with hope in the future.
His Eminence praised the festival’s attention to religion and religious teachings as well as the values of Islamic Revolution.
Imam Khamenei underlined the need for having a hopeful view of the future and elevating one’s perspective in the objectives and aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.
His Eminence said the Islamic Revolution’s movement that began with its victory in 1979 and everything that has happened in the past 34 years are all prelude to achieving the main objectives of the Islamic Establishment.
The Supreme Leader urged that with intensified efforts, without any fear of the enemy and its ploys, and with no pessimism, the nation should move toward the summit.
His Eminence regarded this view as necessary in the field of Islamic arts and cinema, saying that the faithful youths are the driving engine in this field and the veterans should advance this movement by transferring their experiences to the youth.
Imam Khamenei rejected the idea that arts and politics are separated in the world, saying that the arts bodies in the West, such as Hollywood, are fully political.
“If it were not so, why wouldn’t they allow anti-Zionist Iranian movies to participate in film festivals?”
His Eminence referred to the production of political movies against Iran and awarding anti-Iranian movies as indications of how politics and arts are mixed in the United States and the West.
The Supreme Leader also pointed to the relation between humanities and arts, including cinema, underlining the need for changes in humanities.
Before Imam Khamenei’s speech, a number of Iranian film activists and organizers of Ammar Film Festival, including Vahid Jalili, Nader Talebzadeh, Hassan Abbasi, Mehdi Nasiri, Farajullah Salahsoor and Ebrahim Fayaz talked about issues related to cinema and urged, among other things, for using the medium of cinema to convey religious and revolutionary themes.
