Russia’s Muftiat Council to Cooperate in Building Mosque for Shia Muslims

In a meeting with Iranian cultural attaché in Russia, deputy of Russia’s Muftiat Council announced that the council is ready to get the permission for the construction of a mosque for Shia Muslims in Nizhny Novgorod Province.
According to IQNA’s ICRO branch, the meeting was held earlier this week at the council where Demir Muhyiddin, the deputy considered Iran-Russia’s relations as constructive and noted that cooperation between Iran’s Cultural Center in Russia and the council has had positive results.
He then elaborated on new fields of cooperation between the council and the Iranian center suggesting that publication of new books, compilation of encyclopedia of Islam in Russia, development of Islamic educations in Russia and holding Quranic exhibitions can be some of joint activities.
Ebrahimi, the Iranian official, for his part stated that Muslims’ problems in Russia are important for the Islamic Republic of Iran and the successful programs held in cooperation with the council during the past few years were the results of an interest in developing mutual relations.
The deputy further added that the council will cooperate in constructing a mosque for Shia Muslims in Nizhny Novgorod Province of the country.
Some of the publications of the Iranian Cultural Center as well as the books published in cooperation with the council were gifted to the Russian deputy at the end of the meeting.
