Surah al-Kahf is well known for containing some of the most fascinating stories in the Quran. With each story comes a powerful message that illustrates the Faith of the Companions of the Cave; the Wealth of the Man with the Two Gardens; the Knowledge of Musa and Khidr, and the Power of Dhul Qarnayn.
We may be aware of these stories, but what do they really teach us? How are they relevant to us today? How do they guide us through life’s tests?
The vivid accounts point us towards a central theme – the purification of faith, while the main purpose of the surah is to make faith the basis for the evaluation of concepts, ideas, practices and values.
Key lessons to be covered are learning how to approach the seeking of knowledge for the sake of Allah, learning about the trials of authority, wealth and children and how to overcome them for the sake of Allah, gaining appreciation of the importance of good company while seeking the pleasure of Allah and understanding the relationship between the themes discussed in Surah al-Kahf and the Dajjal.
Shaykh Hammad-ur-Rahman Fahim who is currently teaches Arabic and the Quran at one of Britain's top private Islamic schools in Manchester and also an Executive Committee member of the British Academy of Quranic Studies (BAQS) will be the instructor of the course.
