Qatar Nat’l Quran Contest Underway

The 52nd edition of Qatar's National Quran Memorization Competition kicked off on March 10.
According to Al-Arab newspaper, the contest has been organized by Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for students.
Yusef Ali Al-Moa’zzin, an official with the ministry, said that some 21000 students are competing with each other in the category of memorization adding that 40 committees have been set up to supervise the event.
He went on to add that the competition has been held in an attempt to further acquaint students with the teachings of the Holy Quran.
It will go on until March 21 and top winners will be awarded on the same day during a closing ceremony.
