Russian Muslims Call for Islamic Programs on TV

Muslims in Russia have called on the country’s officials to dedicate part of the air time of the TV networks to Islamic programs.

According to IQNA’s Europe branch, Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, head of the Muftiat Council of Russia has formally requested Anatoli Lisenku, director of the International TV and Radio Academy of Russia to dedicate 15 of TV network’s air time to broadcasting Islamic programs.
Gainutdin has said in a letter that 15 percent of the Russian population are Muslims and therefore at least 15 percent of the TV programs should be about Muslims and Islam.
He has urged Russian TV networks to produce and broadcast special documentaries, educational programs and movies for Muslims.
