Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Mohammadi said the move is aimed at helping to develop Quranic activities in the country.
He also pointed to the formation of the Strategic Committee of the National Quran Memorization Plan and said it mobilized the forces of organizations and government bodies to contribute to the plan.
“With the establishment of the committee, good events came to pass last year especially in terms of the Supreme Leader’s demand for training 10 million memorizers of the Quran.”
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi noted that an appropriate budget has been devoted to implementing the plan and government bodies like the Education Ministry, Islamic Development Organization, Dar-ol-Quran Karim Organization, and Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization have used the fund to take great steps in training Quran memorizers.
He also pointed to the successful organization of the Ayat Quranic Festivals in the country as one of the activities of the Quran and Etrat Deputy of the culture ministry, saying that the festivals helped to promote Quranic art.
“Last year (Iranian calendar year that ended on March 20), great steps were taken in the field of Quranic education, including the plan for training 20,000 Quran instructors,.”
He said the deputy also held the National Talawat (recitation) Plan whose aim was to help talented Quran reciters to become national and international reciters.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi noted that the plan, which is underway in 16 provinces of the country, will last for the years.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the official noted that the Charter of Quranic Activities, which was approved in 2009, as the first strategic Quranic charter of the country has helped to develop Quranic activities in the country.
