Sheikh Badreddin Hassoun made the remark in a ceremony held in the Syrian embassy in Beirut to honor the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), Al-Alam news network reported.
He under lined that Syria, which paid with its people’s blood for its support for Palestine and the Arab and Islamic unity, should not be left alone in the face of massacre and destruction.
The grand Mufti of Syria urged the country’s opposition to sit down for dialogue.
“I have come with the motto of tolerance and efforts for Islamic Ummah’s unity and fighting with chaos in the Arab and Muslim world.”
He further said the WFPIST’s mission is not only proximity of Islamic schools of thought but creating peace in the Muslim world as well.
