The mosque is a permanent university whose doors are always open to researchers, a Senegalese Muslim scholar said.
Serigne Babacar Mbaye highlighted the status of mosques in Islam and said the doors of mosques, unlike universities, are not closed, lesoleil website reported.
He said apart from the spiritual aspects, there is a social aspect to going to mosques as they meet one another and their solidarity is enhanced.
Mbaye underlined that as long as this “university” exists and Muslims attend it, the Muslim Ummah will not be harmed.
He further urged prayer leaders of mosques to master Quranic and Islamic teachings and stay informed about world affairs.
