19 Qaris, 8 Memorizers Compete on 1st Day of Int’l Quran Contest

19 reciters and 8 memorizers competed on the first day of the 30th International Holy Quran Competition in Tehran.
The first day of the contest began at 4:30 P.M. on June 1, with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Mohammad Mashmoul, second-rank winner in the previous edition.
Then the contenders went on stage to show their skills and mastery. Mousa Makibi from Uganda, Armin Velaychich from Bosnia, Islameddin Gudav from Tajikstan, Bilad Bin Mahmoud from Tunisia, Issa Hamid Ali Ghouni from Chad, Hussein Adnann Abdul-Razzaq from Iraq, Ammar Muhammad Mukhtar from the Netherlands, and Abdullah Mukammil Kamal competed in the memorization category.
In recitation, representatives of Syria, Albania, Uzbekistan, Australia, Indonesia, the US, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, China, Romania, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Montenegro, Madagascar, Egypt, and Nigeria recited verses from the Quran to show their recitation skills.
On the sidelines of the contest, a number of educational classes were held by the country’s top Quran masters.
The 30th International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be underway until Friday, June 7. Quran reciters and memorizers from over 70 countries are attending the international event.
