Iranian Quran memorizer who is attending the 17th Dubai International Holy Quran Awards said it is his first experience in an international Quranic event.
In an interview with IQNA, Milad Asheghi hoped he would succeed in winning a title in the competition and be a source of pride for his country.
He said he started learning the Quran by heart at the age of 8 and managed to memorize the entire Quran in two years.
The 14-year old came first in the national Quran competition in the Shokufeha (teenagers) age group and also won the first rank in the Student Basij Quran Competition.
Noting that Iran has not won a title in Dubai Quran competition since it was launched, Milad hoped he can secure one of the top ranks in this contest.
He referred to representatives of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq as his main potential rivals in the competition.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Milad said one who wants to embark on memorizing the Quran should put his trust in God and have a clear purpose.
Receiving encouragements from parents and others and having a good Quran teacher are some other factors contributing to one’s success in learning the Quran by heart, he said.
He referred to Ahmad Shariat, Mohammad Sadeq Zarean and Mohammad Jabari as some of the Quran mastered who helped him in memorization of the Quran through their expertise.
Milad underlined that learning the Quran by heart is a blessing from God, hoping that one day all the youth in the country will be Quran memorizers.
Milad left for Dubai on Friday, July 12, to attend the 17th Dubai International Quran Awards. The competition is held with the participation of 88 countries.
