An internationally-credited Egyptian Qari was honored in a ceremony at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala.
The Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine honored Sheikh Mohammad Ahmed Basyuni for his participation in the Khatm Quran (reading the entire Quran) program organized by the Astan during the holy month of Ramadan, Buratha news agency reported.
Hajj Hassan Rashid, an official with the Astan, presented gifts to Sheikh Basyuni during the event.
Some members of the Astan’s Dar-ol-Quran Center were also present in the honoring ceremony.
The Astan holds the Khatm Quran program every year in the holy month of Ramadan. The program, in which verses of the Quran are recited in Tarteel, starts at 3 P.M. every day.
It is broadcast live on several satellite TV networks including Karbala Television.
