49 Countries to Attend Int’l Quran Contest in Algeria

Head of the Quranic Educations Section of the Office for Islamic Guidance in Algeria announced that from among 66 countries invited to the 10th international Quran contest in Algeria, 49 ones have sent their representatives.
According to elmoudjahi website, Mohammad Azuq said that the 10th edition of the international Quran contest will begin in Algiers tomorrow, July 29, under the supervision of Abdul Aziz Bouteflika, Algeria’s president.
He added that the jury panel of the competition will comprise five international judges, three of them from Algeria and the two others are from Lebanon and Yemen.
Boys and girls less than 25 years of age will compete in this edition of the Quran contest and those who are memorizers of at least 60 verses of the Holy Quran are qualified to attend the competition.
A national Quran memorization and recitation contest for children less than 15 years old will also be held in the capital city on the sidelines of the international competition.
Top participants of the international event will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the contest to be organized on the 27th of the holy month of Ramadan at the Grand Mosque of the city.
Peyman Ayazi, Iranian memorizer of the entire Quran, who won the fourth rank at Iran’s national Quran contest, will represent the country in Algeria.
