Quran Competition for Visually-impaired Concludes in Qazvin
The national Quran competition for the visually-impaired came to an end in a ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
Titled “Noor (light) National Festival”, the contest had started in the city of Qazvin, west of Tehran, on Friday, August 23, IQNA’s Qazvin branch reported.
147 Quran memorizers from different provinces took part in the competition, which was held in the categories of memorization of memorization of 1, 2, and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran.
Winners of the Quranic event were announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
In men’s section of the contest, Majid Sa’adati from Neyshabour, Masoud Jafari from Gillan and Saeed Ali-Akbai from Qazvin ranked first in the three categories.
As for the women’s section, the top winners were Samira Khodabandeh from Qazvin, Homa Khanjani from Hamedan and Somayyeh Gholami from Isfahan.
A number of young memorizers of the Quran aged under 16 were also honored at the closing ceremony.
