Iran’s president Hojat-ol-Islam Hassan Rouhani said any foreign intervention, especially a military attack that violates international laws will push the region toward instability.
The president made the remark on Sunday in a meeting with Masahiko Komura, the special envoy of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Iran, the press center of the presidential office reported.
He underlined that international laws must be the criteria in regional affairs, adding that unilateral military measures should be condemned.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president said the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the Japanese government’s intention to develop bilateral ties.
He said the new administration in Iran is determined to expand relations with all friendly countries.
Hojat-ol-Islam Rouhani also pointed to the Iranian nuclear issue and said the country’s nuclear activities are and will remain peaceful.
He underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to international laws and treaties, including the NPT.
The president said Iran and Japan are both victims of chemical and nuclear weapons, adding that the two countries can be the flag-bearers of fighting the spread of weapons of mass destitution in the world.
The Japanese envoy for his part congratulated Hojat-ol-Islam Rouhani on his election as Iran’s new president and hoped that during his presidency, relations between Tehran and Tokyo will develop.
