Certificates of Private Quran Institutes Not Valid: Al-Azhar

Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center said certificates issued by private Quran institutes are not valid.
Head of the institute Ahmed Al-Tayyeb in an announcement said Al-Azhar considers such certificates as invalid, Al-Misriyun daily reported.
Abbas Shuman, deputy of Al-Azhar, said the center encourages memorization and recitation of the Quran but cannot approve of certificates issued by private Quran centers.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Minister of Awqaf Muhammad Mukhtar Guma said the ministry only recognizes Quran recitation certificates that are approved by Al-Azhar.
