Nat’l Quran Competition Kicks Off in Qatar

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The 9th edition of the national Quran competition in Qatar began on December 20 in Doha, the capital.

According to Al-Sharq website, more than 1800  students from various Quranic centers and Dar-ol-Quran institutes affiliated to the Dissemination and Religious Guidance Office of Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs participated in the competition.
The research center of the office in Wa’ab region  hosts men’s competition while women's competition is held at the Quran and Dissemination Center of Bint Muhammad Museum.
Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad bin Ghanim Al Thani, head of the organizing committee of the competition said that a total of 5000000 Qatari Rials has been specified for the local and international sections of the competition as well as the sideline programs of the event.
He added that the main objective of such Quran competitions is to encourage students to attend Quranic centers, learn and memorize the Quran and compete to reach higher levels in Quranic field.
The first stage of this edition of the national competition on Quran memorization, recitation and interpretation will conclude on January 25.
