It will be held in the categories of Quran memorization, interpretation and Tajweed recitation.
The Quranic event will run for six days, Fananews reported.
Algeria’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs announced earlier that it has sent invitations to 66 countries to attend the contest.
Among the countries invited are some non-Muslim states including Russia, Canada, India, and the Philippines.
Iran will be represented in the competition by Mohammad Khakpour, a memorizer of the entrie Quran who came second in the national Quran competition.
Many Muslim countries organize Quran competitions in the holy month of Ramadan every year.
Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic Hijri calendar. This year, it began on Thursday, June 18.
During Ramadan, Muslims all over the world fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.
They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
