The defendants faced charges varying from using explosives for murder to joining terrorist groups and trying to topple the Kuwaiti monarchy.
7 of the defendants are Kuwaitis while the rest are from other countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

The terrorist attack was carried out during the weekly Friday prayers at the mosque in the Sawabir district of the Kuwaiti capital.
