This is according to the representative of Oman in the recitation category of Iran’s 33rd International Quran Competition.
Speaking to IQNA, Ahmed bin Nassir al-Qanoubi also underlined that Muslims should act upon the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to present the true image of Islam.
"If we understand the sublime teachings of the Quran well, we can counter certain groups that have been distorting the image of Islam,” he said.
Elsewhere, al-Qanoubi referred to his Quranic activities, saying that he has attended many Quran contests in Oman and won several titles but this is his first presence in an international Quranic event.
He further described Iran as a pioneering country in terms of Quranic activities.
Iran’s 33rd international Quran contest kicked off on Wednesday at Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) in Tehran.
There are some 130 Quran reciters and memorizers from over 70 countries competing in the two categories of the Quranic event.
